Croston Twin Lakes 1.1.14

Post by Neil Southworth »

Not so happy New Year for the Grey Heron found dead in a field near Croston Sewage Works, possibly having hit overhead wires.

Large numbers of wildfowl on the lakes:-

Mute Swan 6, Canada Goose 6, GC Grebe 2, Little Grebe 2, Mallard, Wigeon 8, Gadwall 4, Tufted 9, Coot 130, Moorhen 2, BH Gull, Common Gull, plus a flock of c100 Lapwing across the Yarrow, a few Fieldfare, Blackbird and Pied Wagtail near the sewage works.

My list stands at 26 (already 13 down - but did you not see Moorhen at Croston, Gary?)
