Hen Harrier Protection Petition

Post by phil kirk » Tue Sep 02, 2014 9:06 pm

This may be of interest to some members - I received it this morning from Tony Cooper:

Dr Mark Avery’s e-petition against driven grouse shooting, having exceeded the 10,000 mark by some considerable margin, has now resulted in a response from DEFRA. Having read it, it would appear to be a typical civil service reply, with no hint of real action on the persecution of Hen Harriers and other raptors. To read the original petition and DEFRA’s response please visit

If you have not already signed the petition, why not? Those of us living in and around the Forest of Bowland have every reason to do so. The petition remains open until March 2015 and you can sign it by scrolling to the bottom of the web page referred to above. If 100,000 people sign, the petition must be considered by a committee of back bench MPs.
