Lepidoptera: A single Meadow Brown (my first of the year) and 2 Large Skipper were on the edge of the former quarry earlier today.
Odonata: A single Blue Tailed Damselfly was also seen on the quarry edge.
Birds: Young birds of several species, including Robin, Blackbird, Blue Tit, Starling, House Sparrow & Dunnock, but best sighting (possibly I have ever had from home) were two Avocet that flew over heading south at about 18:20.
Avocet takes my 2014 Chorley Nats species list to 125.
