Hoghton Bottoms

Three sightings of Buzzard with a minimum of three involved, which were probably juveniles judging by the call. A Peregrine possibly also a juvenile joined in with the racket and a Raven did a bit of cronking. A Grey Heron was perched at the top of a dead tree by the river. A least 6 Sand Martin were at a regular breeding site. Also seen were several Swallow, 2 singing Willow Warbler, Nuthatch, Wren family, Grey Wagtail, Chaffinch, Bullfinch, Goldfinch
Flora:- Himalayan Balsam (all along the river), Spiraea (several yards of garden escape?), Meadow Crane'sbill, Ragwort, Bush Vetch, Red Campion, Dandelion, White Clover, White Deadnettle, Snowberry
Insects:- Small White 2-5, GV White 1, Gatekeeper 2-5. Speckled Wood 2-5, Peacock 2, Brown Hawker 2-5
