Late evening visit , lots of the grass verges have been mown , several buzzard and kestrel sightings , sparrowhawk seen twice , 14 greylag geese were on the ever decreasing great close pools ( several young birds among them ) , 1 mallard with 3 small young on a ditch , 2 mallard nearby and what can only have been a gadwall ( moulting plumage ) on another ditch , young moorhen heard on a ditch , the moorhen on finney lane are doing well ( at least 4 half grown young ) .
