Wymott Ponds Area

Post by 1swallow »

I put more effort in today and covered pretty much the whole of the Wymott/ulnes Walton area that normally provides most of my records - around a five mile walk, recording 47 species.

Only 2 Warbler species were singing- a brief burst of song from a Blackcap and a Whitethroat gave it a bit of ago. The woodland by Ridley Lane close to the old Ulnes Walton a Stock Dove started it’s monotonous song. There was a good cross-section of woodland species along the Lane, mostly heard - Nuthatch, Treecreeper, several Goldcrests, a couple Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Bullfinch, Jay and the rest of the usual woodland inhabitants.

There were still Yellowhammers holding territory in good voice - 2 singing very close to Pump House Lane, 1 singing by the old Ulnes Walton landfill site and 1 singing by Ridley Lane.
