Croston/mawdesley moss .

Post by gary lilley »

No sign of the whinchat last night , spotted the grey partridge family again ( regular on the farm tracks picking grit up ) the small youngster managed a short flight with its parents , the young buzzards were making plenty of noise , lots of butterflies mainly peacocks which were feeding on ragwort also a small copper spotted and cinnabar caterpillars .

The Whinchat was showing well on Finney Lane but was very flighty and wouldn't settle for more than a few seconds. 1 Buzzard. 2 Kestrels. 1 Yellowhammer. 1 Reed Bunting. 2 Corn Buntings. 1 Wren. Numerous Goldfinch, Linnets, Woodpigeons and Corvids. 2 Stock Doves. 1 Moorhen. 3 female Mallards in a ditch.
