Little Owl Wymott Ponds Area

Post by 1swallow »

The Little Owl turned up right on cue at 7 a.m.on top the same building off Pump House Lane, calling away, didn’t seem slightly bothered by a jogger in High Vis gear passing by, but was bothered by a Magpie that alighted on the roof.

The bird quickly disappeared out of sight shortly afterwards.

Nice couple of hours birding recording 47 species. The only Warblers still making a real effort at singing were Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs.

One Reed Warbler sang for a nano second, a Whitethroat gave it a bit of a go. 2 rival Willow Warblers had a brief vocal exchange, and a Grasshopper Warbler did a reel, rather than did some reeling, over in the grassland, the old Ulnes Walton Landfill.

Additionally Jed Kirkham had a dashing Kingfisher near the main fishing pond. I was elsewhere.
