Pretty sure I saw one this morning,all black.no camera to hand.

I'm not an expert on bee's,could it have been something else,it was approx. 20/25mm.

Not doubting your ID,Peter -I'm sure you're right.It seems these bees are gradually moving north (climate change?) and so finding one is unusual but not unheard of and inevitable given time. They are like ivy bee,and before them,tree bumblebee- adapting to the temperature increase.

Hope we can see more :)

All black Bee seen this morning by Common Bank Lodge. Presume Carpenter Bee?

Ian -they are big -forewing length 20-22mm -in comparison buff tailed bumblebee worker FW =13mm; shiny black/violet with long dark wings. Seen some in southern Spain, love to see one here! Keeping a look out.
