Walk from Calf Hey Bridge up to Great Hill via Pimms then back via Withnell Moor.
Pipits everywhere, good numbers of skylark and curlew.
PImms - Pair Stonechat very visible and vocal.
Great Hill - 5 Swift. Wheatear (f) on dry stone wall above Great Hill Farm. Kestrel in tree at Drinkwaters.
Withnell Moor track, 2 Curlew attacking a buzzard at height and successfully scaring it off towards Chorley.
Heatherlee Woods. - Cuckoo (m) and Willow Warbler calling.
Windy Rannets, Pair of Mistle Thrush, along with 3 Jackdaw.
New Solomons - Reed Bunting and family of 6 Stonechat.
Stepping Stones - Wheatear (m) + pair Stonechat. 3 Raven over. More curlew, and single swift over,
Calf Hey Brook woods to E of Stepping Stones - Male and Female Cuckoo heard in trees. Flock of linnet enjoying the seed heads in the field behind. 4-5 Lapwing displaying.
Watson's Farm, Had a nice chat to old farmer with soft sheepdog, he reckons the BH Gulls try for the curlew chicks. Couple of young + adult Pied Wagtails on the plastic-wrapped hay bales, and lots more Linnets and Goldfinch plus a few Swallow. Another Cuckoo heard - could've been one from earlier I guess, but appeared to be alone and calling with greater musical interval (June song).
Tockholes - Great Spotted Woodpecker, Goldcrest, Song Thrush, Blackcap and pair of Grey Wagtails.
