Yarrow Valley Park

Post by Neil Southworth »

The pair of Mute Swans on Top Lodge seem to be holding onto the 4 surviving cygnets. The pair on Big Lodge might be making another attempt. A pair of Canada Geese have a single surviving gosling. A second pair had 4 goslings but they weren't visible today. Two pairs of Coot are nesting. There is at last a pair of Great Crested Grebe at the site. The high winds weren't conducive to birdsong but in song were Blackcap, Goldcrest, Chaffinch and Goldfinch. No Reed Warbler this morning. Grey Wagtail and young near the weir.
Bank Vole in the usual place.
