Ulnes Walton field trip 20th August

Post by paul b »

Details are as published except that due to current restrictions on movements in areas of east Lancashire and all Greater Manchester, members are advised to keep monitoring information on the website .

The Committee will make a decision on the field trip in their meeting on 13th August but please note there couldd be a CANCELLATION at very short notice.

Seventeen walkers (correct me if I'm wrong) enjoyed a breezy, warm session of wildlife spotting led by local expert, Peter Scholes.

Birds -Peter was recording these.

Mammals-rabbits (2); pipistrelle, noctule and Brandts/whiskered bats

Insects-unidentified hawker dragonfly, unidentified large beetle -possible great diving beetle which apparently can leave water to colonise ponds etc.
Common carder BB

Flowering plants -common fleabane, ragwort, meadowsweet, meadow vetchling, common vetch, wormwood, rosebay willlown=herb, broad leaved willowherb, red clover, himalayan balsam, black knapweed, ox-eye daisy, scentless mayweed.

Very incomplete so please add all those missed.
