Moore Nature Reserve Field Trip 02.02.2020

Post by Neil Southworth »

A good turnout of 13 members enjoyed a morning at Moore, but failed to find the LSW unless those who stayed on had more luck. Birds seen:-
Mute Swan, Mallard, Wigeon, Teal, Pochard, Tufted Duck, Coot, Little Grebe, GC Grebe, Cormorant, Buzzard calling (or was it a Jay mimic? Did anyone see the bird?), Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, BH Gull, LBB Gull, Woodpigeon, GS Pecker, Jay, Magpie, Crow, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Redwing, Robin, Wren, Goldcrest, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit, Willow Tit, LT Tit, Nuthatch, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Siskin, Lesser Redpoll
If there's anything missing from the list, please add.

Jed and I had no luck with yet another circuit of the LSW favoured wooded area. Only additions to the list are shoveler, herring gull, moorhen, curlew, another couple of sprawks and yellowhammer. Top site, worth another visit before the leaves obscures any chance of sighting a LSW.

Simon and I had Kingfisher on Lapwing Lake, on our way back to the car. Thanks all for a very pleasant morning.
