Currently in the north-east enjoying the wonderful Northumbria coastline. I'm updating my bird sightings on my blog:

Highlights so far: Long Billed Dowitcher, possible White Rumped Sandpiper, Snow Bunting, Black-throated Diver, Twite, Whinchat, Long-tailed Duck, Little Stint and Purple Sandpiper.

Some good sightings up there Ian. Probably not the best time of the year for the Farnes. There is currently a white-rumped sandpiper down here on Banks Marsh - so definite "irruption" then!

Heading home tomorrow but a great week of birding. Further highlights were some great seawatching with Little Auk, Pomarine Skua and possible Surf Scoter. On the land we had Yellow-browed Warbler, Lapland Bunting and Water Pipit. I think my best memories will be of the daily dose of waders on the sea-weed at high tide.
