Three sightings of Buzzard with a minimum of three involved, which were probably juveniles judging by the call. A couple of Pipistrelles around the house last night were the first I've seen this year.
Swift, House Martin and Greenfinch over this afternoon. Large White was the only butterfly in the garden which was disappointing.

Common Bank Lodge

The pair of Little Grebe have 4 tiny chicks which didn't look big enough to be out of the egg never mind on the water. A pair of Coot also had at least two recently hatched chicks. Also on the lodge were the pair of Mute Swan, 7 Mallard and a Moorhen.

The two pairs of swans and their families were on Top Lodge and Big Lodge respectively, so all was calm this morning. Other sightings:-

It's very much a case of swan wars, Lydia. The two adults on Top Lodge are the original pair known as Billy and Esma and they have 4 cygnets. Yarrow Valley Park (yesterday)

Both swan families are intact with 4 and 2 young respectively. The GC Grebes are down to 2 young. Several juvenile Coot are still around Big Lodge. Young Wren, Nuthatch, Robin and Grey Wagtail seen. Buzzard over Burgh Wood. Kingfisher heard at the back of Top Lodge.
