A stroll up Lead mine clough to Holts Flat - Hempshaws - Old Rachels - Simms and back down LMC. Not many birds around today, a noisy clay pigeon shoot may have had something to do with it. Brown Hawker dragonfly, another dragonfly hunting along the edge of the adjacent woods was possibly a Southern Hawker but too far away for a positive ID.

Swallow 4 and Buzzard overhead.

Juvenile Rabbit on Washington lane, Euxton this morning.
Dead Hedgehog on Euxton lane near the hospital entrance and another dead one on the hard shoulder of the south bound M61, close to the Crosse Hall lane bridge.

female Holly Blue laying eggs on the ivy this afternoon.

both Large and Small White butterflies have laid eggs on the kale plants, I made a point of sowing a few extra so hopefully there'll be enough for all of us.

8.15am-3.30pm White Coppice - Dean Black Brook - Great Hill farm - Redmonds Edge - Hempshaws - Old Rachels - Simms - Holts Flat - Round Loaf - Hurst Hill - Stronstrey Bank. The stretch of canal in question is number J8 on the websites map; it's quite a good spot for dragonflies and damselflies on a sunny day.
