RSPB BOLTON LOCAL GROUP

2008/9 is the 30th anniversary season of the Bolton Group.  As part of our celebrations we have arranged a special programme of talks, many of them by speakers new to the area.  Our meetings are held at Smithills School, not far from Smithills Coaching House, beginning at 7.30pm and none of them clashes with Chorley & District NHS meetings.

We open on September 11th with Dr Mark Avery, the RSPB’s director of conservation, on ‘Future Challenges in Nature Conservation’.  October 9th brings ‘A Lens for all Seasons- the wildlife photographer’s year’ with John and Tracy Langley.  Gordon Yates is our speaker on November 13th with his film ‘The Wildlife of the Pennines’.  On December 11th we welcome Mark Hamblin with ‘Tooth & Claw’.  This show of remarkable images, accompanied by a book, is the result of years of research and photography.  This is one to see at all costs.

The programme continues in 2009 with John Gardner on 8th January, David Cromack on 12th February, and our own Colin Smith on 12th March.  The season comes to an end on 2nd April with David Tipling and the appropriately titled ‘A Wildlife Photographer’s Diary’.

The charge for the September meeting is £2, and thereafter £2 for local group members and £3.50 for visitors.  We would be delighted to welcome new members or just visitors to our special anniversary season.  Join us if you can.
